We are recruiting an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our Night Team at our Beetroot operation in March. The Multi-Skilled Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of all production equipment within the factory. Reporting to the Engineering Shift Manager, this role focuses on maintaining and improving equipment performance, minimising downtime, and driving engineering excellence. They play a key role in supporting production teams, ensuring compliance with health & safety standards, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off nights 6pm to 6am Role Includes: Equipment Maintenance & Reliability Carry out fault-finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues. Actively respond to breakdowns, ensuring rapid fault diagnosis and resolution. Ensure all production equipment is maintained to a high standard to maximise uptime and efficiency. Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimise production downtime. Implement and optimise Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules. Work closely with the production team to ensure engineering solutions meet operational needs. Actively participate in root cause analysis investigations, implementing permanent corrective actions. Ensure full and accurate record capture for all works via CMMS systems. Ensure 100% adherence to stock control practices. Process Improvement Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance factory performance, efficiency, and sustainability. Support the introduction of new machinery and equipment, ensuring seamless integration into production. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for process optimisation. Drive initiatives to reduce energy consumption, waste, and maintenance costs. Compliance & Safety Ensure all engineering activities comply with health & safety regulations and company policies. Maintain engineering records, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements. Participate in safety audits and proactively address any engineering-related risks. Stakeholder Engagement & Team Support Act as the key engineering point of contact for factory management and production teams. Provide technical support and training to production staff on equipment operation and maintenance best practices. Collaborate with the wider engineering team to share knowledge and drive best-in-class engineering practices. We are looking for: Time-served apprenticeship or formal qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering. Proven experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing or food production environment. Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, including fault-finding and diagnostics. Experience with PPM, reliability-centred maintenance, and continuous improvement techniques. Knowledge of compliance requirements, including PUWER, LOLER, and health & safety regulations. Experience supporting capital projects and implementing engineering improvements. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
