Trainee or Time Served Sheet Metal Worker
Airduct Ltd is an HVAC ductwork contractor based in Kingston upon Hull. We specialise in the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of ventilation systems. With in-house fabrication capabilities, we offer quick turnaround times and a nationwide delivery service. Our services are also available on a supply-only basis.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Sheet Metal Worker to join our workshop team. Whether you are looking to learn the trade as a trainee (with full training provided) or are an experienced, time-served sheet metal worker, we would like to hear from you.
Trainee Sheet Metal Worker
If you are enthusiastic, eager to learn, and keen to develop new skills, we will fully support your training to become a skilled sheet metal worker. You will learn a variety of fabrication techniques and gain the skills required to excel in the role, all under the guidance of our experienced fabricators.
Experienced Sheet Metal Worker
As a time-served sheet metal worker, you will primarily fabricate ductwork items, bracketry, and related components using materials such as mild steel, galvanised steel, aluminium, and stainless steel. Most components are cut using our CNC plasma machine, powered by CAM-Duct. Experience with CAM-Duct is preferred but not essential. You must be able to interpret technical drawings and consistently produce high-quality work.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Trainee Sheet Metal Worker: A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills are essential.
2. Experienced Sheet Metal Worker:
1. MIG welding – mild steel and stainless steel.
2. TIG welding – stainless steel and aluminium.
3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
4. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
5. Strong attention to detail.
What We Offer
1. Competitive rates of pay based on experience. As a time served sheet metal worker, our rate is: £18.00 per hour / £36,504 per annum.
2. Overtime is paid at time and a half or double time.
3. All necessary PPE provided.
4. Standard working times (39 hours):
1. Monday to Thursday: 07:30–16:00 (20-minute break at 09:30, 30-minute lunch at 12:30).
2. Friday: 06:00–13:00 (20-minute break at 09:30).
