These positions are based in YORK and LONDON for a senior commercial manager responsible for all pre and post contract commercial management on a number of major railway construction schemes including new stations and station development, re-signalling schemes and increased capacity works. This role will include providing commercial support under regional framework agreements using various forms of contract (ICC / NEC) managing the commercial process to include interim valuations, change control and variation administration and appropriate contract governance and assurance.
This is a hands-on role and will require the candidate to fully participate in the commercial activities whilst managing a number of ongoing projects.
It should be noted that this role will also assist with reporting any contractual claims including support in the management and resolution of contractual disputes.
Key skills/qualifications:
The ideal candidate should be RICS qualified or similar, have good commercial experience and be well versed in construction contracts. Experience in the construction industry is essential, with railway industry experience an added value.
The candidate should be experienced in the commercial management of framework agreements and supporting contracts with the ability to lead the commercial management process and procedures.
Responsible for monitoring and managing all project reporting such that it is accurately maintained and recorded in accordance with client reporting systems. Explain any variances to outturns, period forecasts, AFCs and budget/authority.
Responsible for establishing and implementing appropriate commercial strategies, governance and assurance controls and utilising such to achieve adherence to clients procedures and standards.
Involvement in the negotiation of pricing works under existing contracts/framework agreements (including the negotiation of target costs where required).
Provide pro-active expertise, advice and governance on all contract/scope changes in accordance with change control systems, recommending or authorising appropriate actions and progressing the timely resolution of contract variations.
Manage all commercial correspondence and contractual notices issued in accordance with contract conditions.
The right candidate must have a high level of communication and people skills and be able to communicate needs and outputs effectively.
Location:
Whilst our offices are located in Kingston upon Hull where the position will be notionally based, Shilcocks are currently seeking a York based senior commercial manager and an (East) London based senior commercial manager with the facility for ad-hoc remote working by client agreement. The candidate might occasionally be asked to travel to various locations around the UK, visiting operational and head offices.
