The Medical Education Fellowship with the Clinical Skills and National Repository team is an exciting opportunity for a resident doctor with a strong interest in the future of postgraduate medical education and training focusing on the development of innovative clinical skills training courses (both cadaveric and non-cadaveric).
This Fellowship is available for commencement in August 2025 and the post is for 12 months. The Fellowships provide 2-days per week (on average) to work as part of the Postgraduate Medical Education Department (PMED) to develop and deliver a selection of Clinical Skills and National Repository projects. You would be expected to contribute regularly to PMED clinical skills teaching sessions and be a regular member of the Clinical Skills Teaching Faculty.
Applications for Fellowship roles must be discussed with your Educational Supervisor. Approval must be obtained from the TPD and Head of Service in advance of applying for this role. You will be required to work fully (both your training post and the Fellowship) at NUH so your TPD must be able to rotate you to NUH from August 2025 for 12 months.
The National Repository Centre, based at City Hospital in Nottingham, was established in 2015 to support members of the public who wish to donate their bodies to medical science and training. We supply the specimens for the cadaveric courses which are also facilitated at the Clinical Skills Centre at the Nottingham City Hospital. The National Repository co-ordinates a body donation programme to provide cadavers locally and throughout the UK for surgical and clinical skills training. The Clinical Skills Centre and National Repository is part of the NUH Postgraduate Medical Education Department structure. The team have a variety of excellent opportunities in Surgical and Clinical Skills that we believe would be a unique experience for a Fellow.
We are keen to develop innovative training programmes for trainees including those that use cadaveric material. This Fellowship might ideally suit a surgical trainee that is keen to look for new ways that cadaveric training could be developed, offering unique opportunities for trainees in the region. There would also be opportunities for the Fellow to develop innovative clinical skills (non-cadaveric) training courses.
This is a unique opportunity to work with our team and develop innovative cadaveric and clinical skills programmes that would benefit trainees across the region.
