JOB TITLE: Security Officer
LOCATION: Walsall, WS1 1YS
HOURS: 24 hours per week
SHIFT PATTERN: 2 days per week
PAY RATE: £11.95 per hour
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
This important role is the public face of the Security Team. A can-do and professional attitude is essential in this highly influential role. You also need to ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Readily interact with all visitors/tenants within the shopping centre, delivering first-class customer-focused service.
2. Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site assignment instructions, being always proactive.
3. Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors at the shopping centre, proactively helping wherever opportunities arise.
4. Safeguard all sites to ensure a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors/tenants.
5. Ensure all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedures.
6. Liaise with the site control room, proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and always supported.
7. Report any unsecure areas of the site to the Control Room immediately and take action to resolve.
8. Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives.
9. Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies, ensuring the Centre team is kept fully informed.
10. Understand human behaviour, monitor and surveil suspect individuals, logging and reporting incidents in line with site/company policies.
11. Maintain vigilance and highlight/manage unauthorized access by banned individuals.
12. Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to.
13. Record all events/incidents in the Security Officer notebook correctly and adhere to notebook policies.
14. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
15. Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events.
16. Complete all training requirements as requested by the line manager.
17. Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month if requested to cover absence/annual leave.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful while carrying out duties to the highest standard.
* One team approach.
* Take ownership of all situations to ensure tasks are completed or escalated when necessary.
* Stay motivated, aim high, and achieve.
* Respect all staff and visitors within the shopping centre.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Valid First Aid Certificate.
DOCUMENTS/INFORMATION REQUIRED:
* Valid SIA Licence.
* 5-year checkable background.
* Must be over the age of 18 years.
* Documentation demonstrating eligibility to work within the UK.
