Poolhall Recruitment currently have vacancies for our client in their Highway Maintenance team for General Operatives.
The majority of the works are in the South East, so candidates MUST be able to work away from home during the working week. Accommodation and subsistence for food is included.
This is a full-time permanent position following a temp to perm period via an agency start. Starting as a highway general operative this role does give the chance to grow and earn more as experience is gained on the job.
Following a successful temp to perm period you have the chance to gain further qualifications and earning potential within the business.
To start with the Day rate of £115, and Night rate of £149.50 is available but as you gain more experience you can earn more on different bandings. Please see below for example.
Band 7:
Day shift – £132.30
Night shift – £171.99
Band 6:
Day shift – £143.33
Night shift – £186.32
Job Details
You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our client’s highway network. You’ll be tasked with the upkeep of the highway verges, tidying and maintaining vegetation and the delivery of drainage report using radar scanning equipment and compiling reports.
The needs of our customers and members of the public come first, responding to, and resolving any issues raised. You will also be required to communicate with other departments and our contract partners.
Main Accountabilities
* Perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely, including but not limited to general labouring, GPS surveying, vegetation clearance, drainage surveys, and asset inspections in line with company, project and statutory requirements.
* Operate and maintain tools and equipment in line with company requirements, ensuring they are used safely and correctly.
* Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and helping to maintain a productive work environment.
* Participate in daily briefings.
* Operate company vehicles safely, in accordance with company requirements and the law.
* Adhere to all applicable SHEQ policies, procedures, documentation, and legislation.
* Collect and record all required data accurately and in the required formats.
Experience
* Previous Groundworks / construction / highways operative work
* CSCS qualifications
* Experience using standard tools and equipment
* A full UK driving Licence.
* Highways Passport, Safety Critical Medical, and First Aid are advantageous
* Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
* Good understanding of health and safety practices.
* Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions.
* Proficient with technology (apps/tablets) and Microsoft applications.
