The successful candidate will promote and ensure the highest levels of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance through our EHS Management System, ensuring compliance with legal, GSK, and other standards. This role involves driving continuous improvement via risk assessments, fostering a positive site EHS culture, and reducing injuries, ill health, and environmental harm. Additionally, the Senior EHS Advisor will provide technical guidance, training, and advice for accident/incident prevention and investigation, monitor and report KPIs, and perform audits to enhance the site's EHS Management System. In this role you will EHS Information, Guidance and Advice - Provide day-to-day advice, guidance, and support to Managers and Staff to enable effective management of EHS issues, aligning to specific business areas where agreed. Act as Subject Matter Expert for EHS in agreed topics. Project & NPI (New Product Introduction) Support and EHS Strategies - Assist in the safe and effective introduction and installation of new products, processes, equipment, and the development of facilities throughout the lifecycle of projects and facilities. Contribute to the development of EHS strategies, plans, policies, procedures, and risk assessment techniques. Identify and communicate relevant new legislation applicable to the business Measures and Reporting - Record adverse events & KPIs (key performance indictors) from allocated Business Areas and report to the team; provide monitoring data on relevant measures. Trend and analyse injury and near miss information and assist in producing the site's EHS performance statistics; cascade appropriately to business areas. Follow current legal and GSK reporting guidance for metrics and adverse EHS events such as RIDDOR Reporting to HSE (Health, safety and environment) and GSK Reportable Reporting to Central EHS. Audit and Compliance - Develop and support management monitoring processes (gemba, L1 audit) and Independent (Level 2) audits in line with the site audit schedule, identifying CAPAs and providing necessary reports to the department and SLT (senior leadership team) as necessary. Interact successfully with external auditors and contribute to the development of new audit methodologies. Training and Communications - Create and deliver EHS training packages and train staff at various levels within the organization. Identify EHS training needs and providers through in-house resources or external consultancy. Re-enforce the site's safety culture by presenting timely and stimulating information using various media. Liaise with the Communications Team to exploit synergies and communicate group alerts/legislative updates relevant to the site. Emergency Support - Perform Incident Co-ordinator role when called upon in emergency situations. Liaise between emergency teams, control room, and site management to preserve life and avoid escalation of the situation. Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: As a minimum the role holder would hold a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent Experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment and actively engaged in EHS with experience in carrying out gemba, inspections and audits. Good report writing skills. Ability to interpret standards, legislation and monitoring data to promote adequate risk assessment and effective action planning. Leadership, teamwork, influencing and motivation skills to provide and maintain a highly effective, professional and ethical department and service to the company. Familiarity and use of OE tools and techniques and proficient in use on standard IT systems. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: The role holder should hold or be working towards a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent Certified audit training to a recognised standard (eg ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO45001 etc) is preferred for those leading EHS Audits.
