As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Buyer to join our procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on prestigious projects across the North West and support the success of a well-established business.The RoleAs a Mechanical Buyer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Procurement Manager with purchasing and supply chain activities for mechanical materials, plant, and equipment. You will ensure that goods are sourced at competitive prices and delivered on time to meet project deadlines, while maintaining high quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPlace orders with suppliers for mechanical materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and competitive pricing.Send out material enquiries, collate and analyse quotations, and recommend suppliers based on value, quality, and delivery time.Collaborate with Project Managers and site teams to understand and meet their project requirements.Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and expedite urgent or overdue deliveries.Assist with stock management, ensuring materials are supplied directly to project sites when needed.Support the accounts team with resolving invoicing queries and assisting with statement reconciliations.Maintain accurate procurement records, update reports, and perform administration tasks as needed.Work closely with Contracts Managers to ensure that complex and priority orders are processed efficiently, without delays.Assist the Procurement Manager in maintaining and improving the purchasing systems and processes within the company.Key Skills and ExperienceProven experience in a mechanical supply chain or procurement role (M&E experience is beneficial).Strong understanding of mechanical products, plant, and equipment.Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail.Proficient in ICT, with experience using ERP/MRP systems and MS Office.Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both suppliers and internal teams.A proactive team player, able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.What We OfferCompetitive salary, based on experience.Opportunities for career progression and professional development.Involvement in prestigious construction projects across the North West.A supportive and collaborative working environment within a growing company.Continuous training and development opportunities to help you advance your career.Equal OpportunitiesChris Bowker Limited is committed to creating an inclusive workplace and welcomes applications from all candidates.
