We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good planning, communication, and data handling skills to help plan and deliver multi-functional environmental benefits.
The main focus of this role be supporting our water quality workload, with the opportunity to get involved across a variety of work areas such as water quality planning; river basin planning; analysing data and evidence to inform area business plans; and delivering the team’s Water Company Planning work (PR24). The role will flex depending on work demands and your experience.
More specifically, day to day you could be:
* supporting delivery of Protected Areas work, including bathing waters, shellfish waters and drinking waters
* providing local advice on water discharge permit applications
* responding to requests for data and information
* maintaining Water Framework Directive data systems
* managing, analysing and sharing data and evidence to inform local plans and actions
* reviewing and advising stakeholder plans and permissions to ensure they comply with environmental regulations
Depending on team priorities and your skills and interests, you will also have the opportunity to deliver work on the wide variety of activities carried out within IEP.

The Integrated Environment Planning team is predominantly a water planning team with specialists in water quality, water resources and river basin planning.
Working with area operational teams and national colleagues, we collate, analyse and share data, and produce environmental plans that inform and drive Wessex area priorities.
We’re a fantastic and friendly team to work in and are trusted advisors at the heart of environmental decision making to maximise the benefit for people and wildlife.
You will have a degree in an environmental subject and ideally either experience in water quality or river basin planning. You will be methodical and organised, delivering high quality work to defined deadlines.
You’ll possess proven ability and/or knowledge in the following areas:
* Experience of gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/information
* Good analysis skills, supporting an ability to make proportionate, evidence-based inferences from information
* Good communication skills – able to talk to people at different levels (managers and team members). You can make technical information understandable and present it in different ways
* Good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver work.
* Sensitive to the needs of the internal and external customers-ability to deliver necessary outcomes
* Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a larger multidisciplinary team
