Job summary We are recruiting for a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist on our assessment unit (Avondale) at Miranda House in Hull. Avondale is a 14 bedded in-patient facility, based in inner city Hull and offers assessment for people with a variety of mental health needs across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. As the Consultant Psychiatrist on Avondale, an ability to work within a fast-paced team is essential. The average length of stay on the unit is around 4 days, and then an individual is either discharged back into the community or transferred to one of our treatment wards for continuation of their recovery. The MDT works efficiently and effectively. It is comprised of professionals with a wide range of input and knowledge from experienced colleagues. These include nursing staff, occupational therapy, social work, pharmacy, and junior medical colleagues. This enables the assessment process to take place in a timely and decisive manner. The post holder will join an established team of Specialist Consultant Psychiatrists in Working Age Adults alongside a wider established network of consultants covering all sub-specialties. There is weekly teaching and weekly peer-group events to support professional and personal development.
