Business Unit Nestlé UK&I Location: York Factory Job Title: Line Tech Operator Continental Shift Pattern -12 hr Shifts (combination of days & nights covering from 5 to 7 days per week, 361 days per year - depending on area ) Salary - £42,000 - £46000 per annum plus companywide benefits Position Summary As a Line Technician Operator, you will work as a pivotal member of our line operation team, ensuring the manufacturing or wrapping machinery in our factory are set to standards, and basic maintenance tasks are carried out. Our York Factory is one of the biggest confectionery factories in Nestlé, and the home of iconic brands such as Kit Kat, Aero, and Milkybar. A day in the life of Line Technician Operator You could be involved in the manufacturing area of a department, the products of which we are proud, where you are responsible for food safety, critical aspects of manufacturing, ensuring key standards are met and making sure that the product meets the correct high standards each, every time. You can also be involved in the wrapping and packing of that product, making sure the smooth and efficient operation of the area by taking responsibility for the safety and quality standard compliance of it and ensuring machinery is clean, operating to standard and set up correctly for each format. You'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to problem solve technical and process issues that may arise on the machinery and using this knowledge to update the operational standards and close issues out at root cause. Key Responsibilities: - Maintain & improve safety and quality standards - Operate a complex chocolate manufacturing plant and ensure effective process control - Operate a packing machine and work to achieve good outputs - Carry out effective line changeovers such as pack sizes or a flavour change and communication to other employees and management - Create and improve the operating standards - Carry out routine maintenance care tasks to ensure reliability of equipment - Coordinate and facilitate planned activities on the line What will make you successful This role would be suitable for someone with a keen interest in problem solving, a desire for high standards within their work and achieving high quality with our Famous Household brands. You will have the ability to understand and breakdown issues, finding simple solutions through having a curious mind-set and inquisitive nature. In addition to this you will; - A proactive approach and a good understanding of Health and safety - A keen Interest in plant machinery and manufacturing processes - Be able to demonstrate the ability to prioritise workload - Good communication skills to be able to support the rest of the team and provide verbal direction - Comfortable in using modern technology in a workplace What you need to Know - Your application will be assessed by our management team - You will be expected to attend an onsite practical assessment with a focus on completing a task in line with standards provided - A competency-based interview if successful in the practical.
