Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Account Director to be a driving force for client growth within our business. This person will lead a set of high-profile accounts within the agency, ensuring that they are profitable and growing, as well as deepening senior relationships with client contacts.
You’ll take responsibility for the delivery of unmissable work that generates measurably superior results for clients. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that work directly addresses clients' business problems and moves the dial on achieving their long-term objectives. You will do so through the effective management of your own team and your ability to lead and inspire others outside the agency.
You will regularly be involved with the development of new and organic business opportunities, approaching these with a creative and commercial mindset.
You’ll be working with...
Internal: client services team, strategy team, senior managers and board level management, delivery teams across all channels (both performance and creative), finance/accounts, new business & HR.
External: client marketing & brand teams, client procurement teams, other agencies the clients work with e.g., media buyers, PR agencies and suppliers e.g., freelancers as well as new business prospects.
In this role you will report to the Managing Director. You will also report directly to the board & financial controller on account profitability and contracts.
You’ll manage and motivate staff within your team, being accountable for their performance, providing them with professional development opportunities, training, and support in development against the company’s ‘culture of excellence’ framework.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead client accounts within the agency, with overall responsibility for developing the client agency perception, relationship, and satisfaction (measured by NPS).
* Work with the strategy team to interrogate and enhance client briefs by asking questions and always being curious. Develop communications briefs that meet the client’s business needs in an effective and accountable way.
* Partner with the strategy lead in directing the strategic development of creative work, presenting and selling this effectively to clients.
* Ensure profitability, growth, reporting & setting financial targets across accounts.
* Identify, develop, and convert new opportunities with existing and future agency clients.
* Shape & describe sector-specific thought leadership content with clients.
* Negotiate contracts and fees with senior client contacts.
* Manage the work, performance, and professional development of team members.
* Update agency systems (CRM & project management tools) and maintain up to date client account information.
* Involved in recruitment (both within direct team and support to wider client services team).
* Lead by example in promoting a diverse and inclusive culture.

Ideal Candidate
* Experience in marketing, communications, creative or advertising agencies.
* Experience leading creative accounts with a blend of creative strategy and content production.
* Already operating at the level expected of an account director.
* 7+ years’ experience in client services.
* Proven success in client growth & relationship building.
* Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
