Honorary Company Secretary, Legal Trustee
The Company is seeking an Honorary Company Secretary and Legal Trustee to join its Board of Trustees. This strategic role is pivotal in ensuring the organization's governance and legal compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining oversight of the Museum's governing documents, providing legal guidance on a range of matters, and ensuring that the Museum's activities align with its charitable purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Documenting Board decisions.
2. Conducting meetings in accordance with best practices.
3. Offering high-level legal oversight on contracts, risk management, and compliance.
4. Supporting the Museum's strategic initiatives, such as protecting intellectual property and navigating employment law considerations.
While prior board experience is not essential, candidates should have the ability to collaborate effectively with the Board and Senior Leadership Team and share a dedication to heritage, education, and conservation. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, be able to contribute to the Museum's growth and evolution from a governance and legal perspective, and be committed to the preservation of heritage for future generations. The position is unremunerated, and Trustees are expected to attend regular meetings, some of which may be in person.
