Overview: At Polypipe, we are passionate about what we do, and we are seeking a Driving Assessor to enhance the performance of our LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) and HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) drivers. In this role, you will assess driver skills to ensure they operate safely and legally. Your key responsibilities include creating and implementing training programs through our Driver Academy, fostering continuous improvement, and promoting compliance with industry standards. By doing so, you will play a crucial role in improving safety, efficiency, and professionalism within our driving workforce. Key Responsibilities: Driver Academy Management : Lead and enhance the Driver Academy program to develop trainee driver skills, overseeing the apprenticeship process for LGV licenses and ensuring comprehensive training and up-to-date documentation of each apprentice’s progress. Assess potential drivers as part of the recruitment and selection process P rovide drivers, new and current, feedback and advice on d efensive driving techniques and fuel-efficient driving through driving assessments Driver CPC Management: Manage the training and certification for the Driver CPC, ensuring drivers complete necessary training and documenting compliance for professional development. Implement training programmes for all drivers where necessary The delivery of driver inductions, initial training and re-assessment of both Polypipe and agency drivers in line with Polypipe policies, ensuring full completion and filing of any paper Plan and conduct comprehensive training sessions, ensuring thorough documentation of training materials and records. Deliver a nnual training based on plans which meet business objectives. Implement and deliver tas k Specific (TS) SSOW t raining as well as some other specialist training Ensure the Transport training matrix is kept up to date Review, update, and retrain existing drivers on Transport specific procedures and processes as well as those relevant to health and safet y. Instruct drivers on keeping vehicles at an appropriate level of cleanliness, both inside and out. Ensure drivers are aware of all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and equipment to carry out their duties Attend, when, health and safety forum meetings, risk management meetings, driver meetings and participate in training development and instruction The role will involve driving duties to maintain transport SLA’s Skills & Requirements: The candidate must have recent, relevant HGV driver training experience, along with relevant driver assessment qualifications. Prior experience in developing and delivering training programs. Maintain a current Driver CPC certification. Must have regular HGV driving experience. Demonstrate competency in interpreting transport operations legislation. Knowledgeable about driver hours and health, safety, and environment legislation. Serve as an ambassador for safe, efficient, and professional driving behaviours and training. Possess flexibility and a strong understanding of the haulage industry, with a focus on developing and supporting our Apprentices and Colleagues Adapt training methods to accommodate diverse learning styles. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development to enhance driving standards and customer experience. Collaborate closely with the Head of Learning & Development to ensure that all driver teams are trained to Polypipe standards while maintaining high levels of safety and compliance, alongside the support of Transport Management Team. Possess an HGV Licence (C E) and current Digi and DQC cards. Ability to work autonomously without direction. Exemplary customer service skills. Experience in writing safe systems of work. Qualifications, including LGV Fleet Instructor, PTTLS, AET, and Driver Assessor Certificate. Excellent Facilitation Skills Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
