About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity in the Broker Pricing and Underwriting team as Head of Broker Home P&U.
The Head of Broker Home will be responsible for leading and implementing the Broker Home personal lines pricing & underwriting strategy to deliver budget underwriting performance whilst supporting GWP targets and business development. The role also includes being a deputy to the AZP Broker Pricing & UW Director at relevant senior leadership forums.
You will also help to deliver the £100m Insurance Revenue and 94.5% COR in 2025. This role is critical in delivering the AZP growth ambitions in outer years of our plan whilst achieving the planned level of profitability.
Your focus:
* To contribute to wider product underwriting strategy and commercial development as part of the senior management of Broker Pricing & UW leadership. In particular, this includes being the lead team representative at the Home Pricing & UW Forum and The Home Trading Forum.
* To define and deliver Home pricing & UW strategy to meet budget underwriting performance whilst supporting GWP targets through competitive product/price positioning across the Broker distribution.
* Stakeholder Management: Provide strategic guidance to underwriters, agents, and other stakeholders on underwriting and pricing matters, ensuring seamless communication and alignment across the business.
* Risk Management: Work closely with Risk & Technical Teams to ensure that underwriting practices reflect the company's risk appetite and tolerance, identifying opportunities for improvement in this area.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all underwriting and pricing activities are compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, Prudential Regulation Authority) and industry best practices.
* Business Growth: Collaborate with Broker Distribution teams to develop strategies that support business growth while maintaining a balance between risk and profitability.
* To establish methodology and financial controls to monitor and review overall product and individual scheme profitability, providing necessary pricing input into the budget planning process for existing lines, and the evaluation of new schemes or partnership bids.
* Data Analysis: Collaborate with data analysts across the wider technical services team to extract insights from large datasets, identifying trends, and areas for improvement in underwriting and pricing decisions.
* To lead and develop the Home pricing & UW teams across the AZP multi-sites, collaborating with other Heads of Pricing & UW to ensure that there is a consistent approach to pricing and people development.
About you:
* Significant experience in Personal Lines Home pricing & underwriting.
* Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting and pricing strategies that deliver business growth and profitability.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
* Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing teams or leading cross-functional projects.
* Commercial awareness with good grasp of financial principles and business modelling.
