Ipswich Housing Action Group - Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 2EF £24,644 per annum (plus 7% pension contribution, if eligible) 37 per week (including early mornings) Fixed Term until 31 March 2026 Reference: 0036 Required as soon as possible Your role This is role is part of the Rough Sleeper Project, funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. It is a well-established role and is an integral part of identifying and addressing the needs of rough sleepers in Ipswich. Your responsibilities We are looking for an Outreach worker prepared to start early on foot to locate and engage with people sleeping rough within the Ipswich boundary and offer initial support to encourage them into services and to move off the streets into appropriate accommodation. You will work in collaboration with Ipswich Borough Council and partner agencies. You will participate in weekly meetings and maintain up to date records. You will need: Experience of working with people who are homeless or rough sleepers or those who have complex needs such as alcohol or substance use, mental health issues, a history of trauma and/or offending/antisocial behaviour. Ideally you will be familiar with working with statutory and voluntary agencies and be able to find creative ways to engage with people. You must also be able to assess and manage risk and work independently (the role will involve lone working), using your own initiative, and work as part of a team.
