Ready to Make a Real Difference in a Child's Life?
Over 56% of children in care are boys, and the importance of positive role models in their lives is huge. This isn’t a 9-to-5 desk job. You’ll be supporting children who’ve faced adversity, helping them learn, grow, and create positive pathways to adulthood.
Our children’s homes look after young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. We are driven by the idea of affecting even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things.
Being a Residential Support Worker is about providing guidance, stability, and support for young people who’ve already faced many challenges in their lives. If you’re someone who values responsibility and enjoys working with young people, this could be the role for you.
You will be a mentor, a role model, and someone who our young people can trust during their toughest times. We are looking for RSWs to join our team as strong, reliable figures who can show what it means to take responsibility, deal with setbacks, and build confidence.
Working with Witherslack Group offers you the opportunity to develop new skills, take on real responsibility, and positively impact the lives of children and young people.
What we do for you
We know you’re going to make a difference. For your hard work and commitment, we reward you with the best salary and benefits package in the care sector. With us, you’ll get to make a genuine difference to the lives of our young people – plus you’ll get:
1. Salary: Base salary of £28,134 - £34,302
2. Bonuses: In addition to your base salary, you’ll do up to 4 ‘sleep ins’ per month, these are paid at £80 per sleep (approx. £3,840 per year, £2,000 Regional Allowance and £1,400 Attendance Allowance – assuming good attendance)
3. Training: A full 4-week induction on our award-winning Care Academy
4. Holiday: You’ll work hard at WG, so you’ll be rewarded with 7 weeks’ holiday
5. Progression: If career development is your thing, you’ll be in great company—most of our team leaders and Registered Managers have risen through the ranks within our group
6. Flexible benefits package: meaning you can increase/decrease your holiday allowance, pension, and life insurance
7. Wellbeing: a host of wellbeing tools and advice including employee assistance
8. Medical cover: so you can claim back the cost of things like an optician's or dentist appointment
9. Meals provided: while you’re at work
10. Beautiful working environments: with the very best facilities
11. A recommend a friend scheme: that offers a £1,000 bonus every time
Bring your ‘whole-self’ to work
At Witherslack Group, we believe that what sets us apart is our ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Our young people come from diverse backgrounds with unique needs, and we’re proud that our team reflects that diversity. It’s about being able to relate, lead, and inspire—helping our young people be themselves and reach their potential.
You don’t need experience, but there are a few key qualities we’ll be looking for in you:
1. A ‘can do’ attitude – a team player who rolls up their sleeves to confidently help others
2. We genuinely care about our young people (and each other) so honesty and empathy is a must
3. The resilience to be able to deal with challenging situations
4. A full UK driving licence
5. If you don’t have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we’ll pay for you to study and support you every step of the way
You’ll start life as a RSW by joining our ‘Care Academy’ – 4 weeks of off-the-job training with experienced WG professionals to help you feel confident and ready to support our young people.
The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check (we will cover the cost) and an online search. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
