Trainee Commercial Manager – An exciting NEW permanent opportunity, salary between £30-£35K with room for negotiation for the right person, the company is local to Rotherham but the role will have some travel UK wise and Ireland. The role is due to extensive growth within the business and the opportunities for advancement are substantial Key Responsibilities Operations and Site Management: Regular visits to ports, quarries, and bulk storage facilities in the UK and occasionally Ireland. Liaison with port facility staff to check stocks and resolve issues like storage errors or discharge delays, this will involve carrying out physical sampling. Address challenges related to material quality, storage conditions, and transport, working closely with the Port staff to optimise processes and efficiency. Addressing rail transport issues and customer complaints regarding material quality Optimising processes in collaboration with port staff. Customer and Relationship Management: Managing relationships with existing customers in the UK and occasionally Ireland or other regions. Build and sustain strong relationships with clients in industries like cement, steel, lime, and chemical manufacturing. Representing the company at industry events and functions to foster connections and stay informed on sector trends. Business Development and Planning: Identify growth opportunities, improve processes, and enhance operational efficiencies. Create forecasts, and commercial planning tools, and support data analysis requests. Monitor market trends, identifying future trends plus potential risks and opportunities. Hands-on Work: Physical sampling and quality checks of stored materials. Collect material samples on-site, working with the port facilities staff carrying out quality checks and storage checks to enhance process efficiency. The Ideal Candidate: This role is very much about the person, the energy and personality will outweigh the experience however experience in bulk materials material handling would be helpful as well as commercial trading & negotiations Key Qualities: Personable and professional, with excellent communication skills for interacting with all stakeholders. Adaptable, with strong practical common sense and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment. Comfortable working under pressure while managing diverse responsibilities. Experience and Education: A degree in business, economics, or a related field is advantageous. Experience in bulk materials handling, logistics, or commercial trading would be good. Familiarity with markets, hedging, forecasting, or data analysis would also be beneficial to the role Mindset: Proactive, problem-solving, and eager to learn on the job.
