Title: HSE Advisor Type: Temporary (4-6 months) Hours: Full Time Salary: £40,000 - £46,000 Details: Our client is looking to appoint an experienced HSE Advisor on a temporary basis for approximately 4-6 months. The successful applicant will develop and implement an effective strategy with supporting policies and processes for managing health, safety, environmental and wellbeing matters to facilitate compliance with relevant legislation and promote Company standards. They will provide assurance to senior management and Board of Directors that the management of health, safety and environmental matters is effective and compliant with legislation and Company standards. Duties Act as the Companys competent person as required by the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations by interpreting, reviewing and implementing the requirements and prohibitions of all health and safety legislation to safeguard the Company and its personnel. Develop health and safety policies and processes, offering guidance to all levels of management to ensure safe working practices. Proactively analyse H&S Management Information to identify deviations, root causes and prepare recommendations for improvement. Share in the responsibility for HSE performance with continuous drive for development, learning, governance and improvement. Assist in the identification of cost-effective health and safety training requirements; design and deliver a broad range of training to ensure staff at all levels within the company understand and deliver on their responsibilities. Ensure adequate briefings given to contracted activities and third parties on Company requirements. Identify strategic and operational occupational risks and develop policies and procedures to minimise the likelihood/impact. Ensure an accident register is maintained and notify the HSE or other relevant statutory bodies following serious injuries or dangerous occurrences to ensure the Company discharges its statutory responsibilities. Support managers to investigate workplace injuries, highlighting the requirements for any remedial action. Analyse accident/injury data trends and patterns so that action can be taken to prevent reoccurrence. Work in partnership with HR and Learning and Development on health promotion initiatives including Stress Management and the HSE Stress Management Standards. Drive and promote safety communications. Contribute towards budgetary preparations in relation to health and safety initiatives. Safety Management System Contribute towards the development and improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS). Participate in the Corporate Audit Programme as directed by the Head of Compliance & Assurance. Focal point for incident reporting and investigation processes including oversight of process compliance, root cause and trend analysis, the Safety & Environmental Review Board (SERB) and timely closure of resulting actions. Lead safety promotion campaigns and participate in the delivery of SMS training programme. Account Manager for the software solution, ensuring the system performs as expected and develop to meet the needs of the Company.As the system administrator, set up permissions and offer guidance to end-users. Environmental Assist the Environmental Advisor with environmental management processes as required. Person Specification HSE professional with NEBOSH diploma, relevant degree and/or equivalent qualification with experience of practical application of HSE management (strategic and operational) practices, standards, systems and processes. 3 years post qualifying experience in a safety managerial position with demonstrable experience of safety management in related industry. Membership of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at Grad IOSH level. Demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, industry and best practice standards. Qualification and experience in health and safety auditing. Excellent IT (particularly Microsoft packages) and organisational skills with the ability to accurately analyse and interpret data. Experience in accident and incident investigation. Must have a flexible approach to working hours. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Demonstration of working well within teams as well as aptitude to work independently. Motivated individual with the ability to coach and influence others including decision makers along with developing health and safety training programme delivery. Additional Must have the right to work in the UK. Must be able to obtain a satisfactory Basic Disclosure (paid for by the Company). Must be able to provide references covering the previous five years with no gaps including full work history.
