We have a vision to help shape a future where passenger transport is the best choice, through digitisation, sustainability, and continuous improvement, we want you to join us at the forefront of the passenger transport industry Arriva Rail London are on the hunt for a new Operations Trainer to join us, this is a fantastic opportunity for a proven Train Driver who is looking to diversify their experience If you want the chance to be instrumental in the development of our London Overground drivers, then this is the role for you Responsibilities: You will be responsible for promoting the company's vision through basic trainee driver and qualified driver conversion training, delivering theory, practical and on-site training as well as one-to-one coaching for additional support to either trainees or qualified drivers. As the Operations Trainer, you will also be tasked with assessing all training courses as well as compiling all training portfolios with progress reports, training evidence, experience logging. You will liaise with Driver Managers across the network, providing updates and additional information where necessary, whilst also working closely with the Operations Managers and Operations Standards Manager concerning instances where driver performance is sub-standard, recommending remedial actions to prevent repetition of sub-standard performance moving forward. You will be the first point of contact for all trainees concerns and information requirements whilst leading by example with all trainees and qualified drivers, promoting a professional image. The Operations Trainer will work closely with Trade Unions, Driver Representatives and Drivers to improve productivity and other changes required, developing and implementing strategies to achieve improved driver productivity and co-operation using the recognised consultation and negotiation procedures where necessary. You will also work closely with the Recruitment and HR team to recruit and train inexperienced and experienced drivers for expanding service level commitments or through natural attrition, ensuring that there are enough resources to deliver the train plan. Qualifications: The Operations Trainer will need to have a minimum of three years driving experience, ideally the individual will have worked in a Driving Instructor/ Trainer role but this isn't essential. Previous simulator or delivery of traction training experience is required, along with practical handling on all types of traction units operated by London Overground. You will also need to have a thorough understanding of the Rules & Regulations, Railway Group and ARL Operational Standards. The ideal individual will have a TOLO qualification, will be a Group Safety Supervisor as well as someone who is occupationally competent as an ARL Driver. You will also need to have excellent organisational skills, someone who is confident and can train, mentor and coach senior managerial staff in relevant rules and traction requirements, and someone who has excellent organisational skills.
