Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) for a highly motivated senior developer in the Information & Performance Department.
The successful candidate will be developing and supporting the Trust's Data Warehouse and Business Information systems and ensuring the Trust's new EPR, Oracle Health (Cerner) currently being implemented, will integrate into the Data Warehouse.
This team is a key part of the Information & Performance Department which provides a wide range of operational and performance reports to the Trust through its Business Intelligence systems. You will be mostly working from home but will have to attend the occasional on-site meetings or events.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in database management and practical experience of MS SQL server in a complex NHS organisation. A robust understanding of database concepts and programming techniques is essential. You will have excellent technical skills and knowledge backed up by previous experience of data warehousing. You will have the ability to interpret complex user requirements and translate these into deliverables. Knowledge of Insource's Data Academy and/or experience of Oracle Health (Cerner) would be a great advantage.

Main Duties of the Job
Responsible for development, management and maintenance of information and business intelligence database systems including the in-house Data Warehouse system. Development of systems to produce key dataset outputs. Development and enhancement of web-based reporting and managing third party databases.
Recommend improvements to streamline and enhance existing processes and systems, promoting greater efficiency and effectiveness within production and use of information.
Act as a lead specialist providing advice on system or information developments to project managers/IM&T staff, external third-party developers or Trust users. Be a source for the information team to develop advanced technical skills.
Acts as coach or mentor to junior members in the team, supports their training and development. Coaches individuals in the use of information and systems.
The post holder must have highly developed specialist knowledge of SQL Server, Data Warehousing and web-based technologies including OLAP, Microsoft BI Stack and Data Warehouse Design.

Duties
Lead and manage, in conjunction with the Data Warehouse Development Manager, the development of new information databases, information processing systems, and deployment working closely with other Information and ITSS Services staff in Warwickshire.
To improve and streamline existing processes and systems to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness in the production and use of information and offer performance and productivity advice.
To develop the use of web-based reporting tools, including designing, maintaining and developing reports, for different audiences, assisting colleagues in the use of these tools. Also responsible for guidance to report writers.
Provide technical assistance to the Information Department to help ensure that the data warehouses and processes fully support Contracting/SLA reporting requirements including Payment by Results (PbR) and SUS data submissions.
Ensure that the data warehouses are structured to support efficient data aggregation and analysis by information staff. Also offer solutions including Dimension and Measure design.
To lead on the implementation of reporting tools and data warehousing to support the development of key performance indicators with drill through facilities using Microsoft SQL server reporting services, Analysis Services, Integration Services and other third-party BI Tools.
To lead and manage upgrades to data warehouses and reporting tools to ensure the department keeps up with the latest technologies and SQL server upgrades and other software upgrades.

To respond to queries regarding data integrity within the departments databases. Investigating, raising and resolving issues with the Information managers.
Assisting Information staff with database analysis and data interpretation, including problem solving using SQL programming, use of advanced functions and highly complex methodology.
Develop and improve information reporting systems to meet the requirements of managers within the Trust including availability, Data quality etc.
To support the Trust in the development and implementation of new information systems including supporting the Trusts new Oracle Health (Cerner) implementation.
Investigate technical issues in areas of expertise related to software or databases and identify solutions and options for resolution.
Ensure that all developed systems are documented to the appropriate level, and that documentation is maintained and up to date.
Through close liaison with the IT Technical Services Manager, ensure that application servers such as Web Servers and Database Servers are appropriately managed and maintained.
Create, develop and sustain good working relationships with external stakeholders.
To ensure that the Data Protection Act recommendations relating to the provision of information are followed at all times.
Ensure all processes have written current procedures and that they are followed and maintained at all times.
With other senior staff within information, take a shared responsibility for all aspects of data quality and information.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Educated to postgraduate level or equivalent i.e. Masters level qualification plus significant development experience gained in a large HealthCare organization or similar.
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification in an ICT related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience Essential
* Substantial, relevant experience in Database Management in a highly complex environment.
* Advanced experience of MS SQL server gained over a substantial period of time in a complex organisation, including database administration tools and techniques (programming and administration).
* Report development using web/windows technologies e.g. OLAP.
* In depth Knowledge of Business Intelligence, including Analysis Services for a significant period.
