You will provide a clinical service, with colleagues, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
You will participate in the 1 in 15 on call rota at Morriston Hospital, with prospective cover. It will also be necessary to undertake duties at Neath Port Talbot hospital for ward and theatre cover and potentially other locations with the Health Board. Travelling as necessary between hospitals/clinic will be required to undertake such duties. Travel expenses will be remunerated according to the Health Board policy and procedures for claiming.
Working with your colleagues and the multi-professional team you will have continuing responsibility for the well-being of all patients under your care. You will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice as laid down by the General Medical Council.
You will be required to participate in the Health Board's risk management process, clinical governance and any other healthcare governance activities within the department, the delivery unit and the Health Board. Adherence to the Caldicott Principles of information governance is mandatory.
You will adhere to all policies which cover radiation exposures as currently outlined in IRMER regulations.

We are looking to recruit to a LAS ST Lower ( CT1/2 Level) to join a team of 12 orthopaedic CTs/ SHOs responsible for the provision of Trauma and Orthopaedic and spinal surgical services to the Health Board.
This post is due to commence on 29th September 2024 until 4th February 2025 covering a vacant training grade post. This may possibly be extended to 5th August 2025 if another vacancy is handed back from HEIW prior to interview.
Although this post is not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported. There is an active Multi Professional Education Centre and Medical Staff are encouraged to use its facilities. There are also comprehensive Medical Libraries at all sites managed by Chartered Librarians.
There are an additional 6 CT/ SHOs within the department that support the Orthogeriatric service that have been created within the last 12 months, resulting in 21 junior doctors at CT/SHO level within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department. This expansion is to provide better training opportunities and experience for all at CT/SHO level on the rota to access the new elective centre at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and to provide the spinal service with a dedicated CT/SHO from the group of 15 on a rotating basis., Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people.
