Description Job Description This exciting role lies at the heart of Transport Scotland’s Finance and Corporate Services directorate. As Finance Manager you will play a key role in the Finance Business Partnering Team, providing support across the wider finance function, including the accounts payable and financial accounting teams and policy and operational directorates within Transport Scotland. An opportunity has arisen to join the Finance and Corporate Services (FCS) Team as a Finance Manager. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen a broad range of skills and competencies, whilst gaining valuable insight into the important work carried out by the agency. Responsibilities • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of budget monitoring and reporting exercises, providing the Finance Business Partnering team and budget holders with robust information and explanations to assist them in making informed decisions. • Provision of financial management advice to stakeholders through delivery of financial reporting and analysis and supplying high quality regular financial updates to key stakeholders, within and outwith the finance team. • Lead, support and line manage a small team, to ensure delivery of team priorities, while also providing support and guidance to direct reports. • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external, providing advice and constructive challenge. • Identify potential improvements to finance and governance processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, with a particular focus on using core financial reporting systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of organisational financial management. • Assist as required in the preparation and collation of the Transport Scotland Annual Report and Accounts and liaise with internal and external audit. Responsibilities Qualifications The successful candidate should be fully CCAB qualified with up-to-date CPD. We will consider candidates who are part qualified as long as they are actively working towards obtaining full CCAB qualification and have relevant experience.
