We have a vacancy for a Trading Performance Analyst to join our team based in Oxford. This role will play a critical role in driving the success of our battery storage trading operations across wholesale markets (both day-ahead, & intraday continuous), Balancing Mechanism (BM), and ancillary service markets (Dynamic Frequency Response, & Reserve services). You will provide comprehensive analytics to evaluate internal trading capabilities, assess market performance, and support the optimisation of trading strategies. Additionally, you will ensure timely and accurate performance reporting for external clients, contributing to transparency and trust, as part of our market leading offering. Your responsibilities will include: Commercial Performance Analysis: Analyse Habitat trading activities and profitability across day-ahead, intraday, BM, and associated bidding in ancillary service markets. Assess the effectiveness of trading strategies and identify areas for improvement; collaborating with traders to optimise strategies. Provide insight and reporting on market trends, trading outcomes, and competitor performance. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track success metrics. Market Analysis Analyse value in these energy markets and recognise opportunities to earn revenue or improve earnings from those markets Act as a backup user of company fundamental power market forecast modelling software Client Performance Reporting: Prepare and deliver tailored performance reports for external clients, ensuring clarity and alignment with contractual requirements. Address client queries and provide insights into market performance and revenue streams. Data Management and Visualisation: Build and maintain analytical tools, dashboards, and models for retrospective and real-time performance tracking. Collaborate with Habitat Product, Data Science & Software teams to integrate successful tools into the company’s product suite. Utilise programming and visualisation tools to present complex data in an accessible format for both internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Habitat Trading & Operations teams, Data Science, Business Development and Commercial Leadership to align analytical outputs with business goals. Stay updated on market developments and emerging opportunities in energy trading. Continuous Improvement: Develop and refine new methodologies and analytics techniques to enhance performance evaluation and reporting capabilities. Support innovation in trading operations through insights and evidence-based recommendations. ‘Must have’ skills and experience : Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modelling, and quantitative methods. Skilled in Python, R, SQL, and Excel. Ability to extract actionable insights from complex datasets. Detail-oriented with accurate reporting skills. Experience (approx. 2 years) in analytics or reporting roles within energy markets, trading, or asset management. Strong multitasking and adaptability in fast-paced environments. ‘Nice to have’ skills and experience: Knowledge of visualisation tools (e.g., Grafana, Superset, Power BI, Tableau). Understanding of GB electricity markets, including BM and ancillary services. Awareness of PnL drivers, trade lifecycle, and cashflows. Familiarity with battery storage technology and revenue opportunities. Strong presentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Passion for energy markets and renewable solutions.
