You will play a pivotal role in the Software Development lifecycle, utilising full stack, cloud based, Web and Mobile development skills to build high performing, scalable applications for a global user base.
Role Purpose
* You will work within an Agile Software Team throughout the development lifecycle to ensure online products and services meet and exceed expectations with guidance from senior team members.
* You will be expected to ensure that the online services that you have helped develop are deployed and supported in a manner that ensures our end users receive the highest level of service.
* You will be part of a team that builds and maintains solutions for the Aviation sector with an emphasis on Safety and Security but also helping us diversify and expand into more markets.
* While this is a junior role, you will focus on producing quality code, following best practices, and building your skills to contribute effectively to the team.
* You will work closely with the Software Team to ensure the continuous improvement of development practices.
* This role involves being an integral member of the Software development team. We will support personal development to grow within the team, both in terms of increased responsibility and in the acquisition of new skills.
Accountabilities
Software Team
* Work with technical colleagues to implement appropriate Solution Designs.
* Be involved in the planning of technical projects by providing realistic estimates for components and features that require development.
* Provide timely updates and be expected to work within an Agile team.
* Receive support from senior team members to write high quality efficient code, and develop a good awareness of standards and best practices.
* You will be security conscious and ensure solutions are secured by design.
* Ensure that the code you produce has been adequately tested, from local unit tests through to user acceptance.
* Assist in any operational issues by providing timely remediation through troubleshooting and applying appropriate updates.
People
* Work within an Agile Software Team that is committed to continuous improvement; as such you will be a conscientious team member open to providing and receiving regular feedback, supportive of your colleagues and committed to shared goals and objectives for the products and services under development.
* Undertake continuous professional development to ensure you are able to make a meaningful contribution and develop the skills necessary to take the next step and establish yourself as a professional software developer.
* Work closely with key stakeholders both internal and external.
Candidate Requirements
Technical skills required
* Some practical experience in software development, ideally through work placements, academic projects, or at least 1 year in a relevant commercial role.
* Familiarity with .Net development: C#, ASP.net MVC, Entity Framework etc.
* Exposure to JavaScript frameworks, React.js and React Native is advantageous.
* Understand web front end development using HTML and CSS.
* Basic knowledge of Web API Development and RESTful patterns.
* Familiarity with RDMS Systems; particularly SQL Server and T-SQL.
* Awareness of cloud-based applications, in particular Microsoft Azure.
* Interest in modern architectures, patterns and practices.
