Project Engineer
Full Time - 40 Hrs per week
Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:15 and Friday 08:00-13:00
Based near Honiton
Up to £45,000 per annum dependent on experience
About the Role:
As a Project Engineer, you will be the heart and head of engineering projects, pulling all the engineering activity into a deliverable plan of action. You will work closely with Project Managers, advising on all engineering matters to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Translate customer requirements into deliverable engineering tasks, working hand in hand with the Project Manager from planning through to production.
2. Collaborate with Design Engineers and build teams to create, plan, and deliver a manufactured product to the customer. Daily tasks will include design work, checking and fault-finding drawings, and practical testing of parts and systems.
3. Manage the design team to ensure a shared and understood version of the customer's requirements, aligning with quality and assurance standards, and supported by senior Project and Principal Engineers.
4. Maintain a high level of automotive engineering understanding across all aspects of design and build, from the first concept drawing to final testing and handover to the customer.
5. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and influence internally and with external agencies.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks (adaptation training available).
2. Knowledge of drawing standards including BS 8888, geometrical tolerancing, welding specifications, etc.
3. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Project.
4. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels, including with suppliers and customers.
5. Computer literate with the ability to adapt to different software.
6. Competent in report writing and project information recording.
7. Basic computer troubleshooting skills.
8. Experience in managing staff. (Desirable)
9. Experience with drawing issue control using PDM. (Desirable)
10. Familiarity with the design and function of automotive systems. (Desirable)
11. Ability to perform structural analysis using first principles and FEA. (Desirable)
12. Experience with vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation. (Desirable)
13. Presentation skills. (Desirable)
14. Experience using ERP and MRP systems. (Desirable)
