Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide advanced clinical skills, leadership and expert knowledge in clinical practice. It is envisaged that at least 80% will be spent working in the clinical area as part of an agreed job plan. The role contributes to leading service delivery, supporting quality improvement and providing safe and effective specialist level acute oncological assessments within the national tiers for review.

The post-holder will provide compassionate and credible professional specialist leadership and effective management of resources ensuring high standards of nursing care are delivered to all cancer patients.

Job description Job responsibilities
Following a restructure within the SACT team we have created an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced SACT Nurse with a passion for leading and developing the SACT cancer nursing workforce. The post holder will inspire and improve the development of the next generation of cancer nurses across Medway.
As an experienced nurse, you will support the Lead Cancer Nurse/Head of Nursing in the management of complex and multi-faceted demands on the cancer pathway, delivering transformational change. The post holder will work to continuously improve the quality of health provision for patients with cancer receiving SACT, and their families. This will be achieved by collaborative working across the integrated care system, commissioners, cancer alliance and voluntary sector.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, commitment and leadership that will support the development of aspirant and cancer nurses across the organisation. They will have excellent clinical skills, recent experience, and a background knowledge of oncology nursing as well as a robust level of IT literacy.
Lead on the clinical and education requirements for nurse-led specialist clinical and cancer support services in line with strategic priorities for SACT.
To support the Macmillan Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse on the implementation of the ACCEND framework across the organisation.
To utilise advanced level clinical leadership skills to influence and collaborate with services across the organisation to ensure all staff working with cancer patients have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to meet the personalised care agenda to support patients live well with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.
Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential
* NMC Registered Nurse
* 1st Level Degree in Nursing or related subject
* MSc Advanced Clinical Practice or Master's Degree in a health related subject relevant to specialist area of clinical practice
* Mentorship qualification
* SACT Passport Holder
* Non-Medical Prescriber
* Advanced Communication skills qualification
Desirable
* NHS Leadership Academy qualification or equivalent
* Competent in the placement of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (desirable)
Experience Essential
* Substantial post qualification experience as CNS team lead / Matron or equivalent, managing nursing teams.
* Evidence of contributing to service development, delivery and successful change management
* Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist oncology area delivering effective patient focused care
* Ability to work without supervision, providing specialist advice to the organisation, working to tight and often changing timescales
* Clinical practitioner with advanced practice skills and significant experience in clinical roles within the oncology setting, underpinned by the four pillars of practice.
Desirable
* Experience of acute medical/emergency department nursing
* Knowledge of palliative care - EOLC and Advanced Care Planning

* Excellent knowledge of early diagnosis of cancer, cancer pathways and cancer performance standards
* Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working
