We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Management Accountant. In this role, you'll support with the preparation of the accounting processes and cycle for our End of Life Services business area,
This role is based at our head office in Portsmouth. The role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office. The office has great amenities with free onsite parking and a shuttle bus service.
What to expect
* Weekly reconciliation and sales data collation for all ELS areas including posting of cash statements for all ancillary End of Life Service areas, assisting in the resolution of any file errors of failures.
* Work closely with End of Life Services management team to provide support for any finance related queries and to provide a monthly review of financial performance. Own and manage quarterly BAU financial performance meetings with management, challenge performance and provide key action points for follow up based on performance.
* Own and be responsible for the completion and production of the funeral plan investments to be sent to our investment partners on a monthly basis. Work closely with the Funeral Planning administrators to ensure they provide the correct information for reconciliation by specified dates, in order that the reconciled payment deadlines are met.
* Undertake all other funeral plan accounting including accounting for plan deficits and plan excesses.
* Own the monthly Management Accounts Reporting function for End of Life Funeral Operations, ensuring that periodic deadlines are met and that output is maintained to high standards. Inclusive of Management Accounts production, variance analysis, margin review and presentation of results to stakeholders.
* Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, reconciliation of funeral debtors & Bad Debt Provision creation and posting.
* Credit control for funeral homes, providing evidence for any debts to be written off and liaison with external debt management company
* Provide Assistance to Finance Manager in End of Life Services Budget preparation and quarterly reforecasting.
* Provide assistance to Financial Processing Team Manager in reconciliation and resolution of DIDOS queries (mis-matches on Purchase Invoice Matching system).
* Shared ownership on the cash management system closedown procedure on a weekly basis & flash sales reporting.
* Other relevant Finance related ad hoc duties as and when required, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
Key skills required
* Good communications skills with the experience of, and ability to, challenge and influence where required
* Previous experience of Management Accounting
* Strong analytical skills, with high attention to detail and process orientated approach to work
* Ability to manage own workload accordingly and meet deadlines
* Proficient in the use of Excel supported by generally high levels of IT literacy.
* AAT qualified
* Studying towards CIMA (Desirable)
