As the Mechanical Technician will be responsible for providing a mechanical maintenance service within the maintenance team. As part of the maintenance team, the role holder will be required to diagnose faults, suggest and assist with the upgrading of equipment and deliver the plant’s proactive maintenance strategy. Sound Interesting? We think so What you’ll be doing The Vivergo Fuels Plant is in operation 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year. The maintenance team typically work a Monday-Friday working pattern, with the requirement to be part of a call-out rota to assist with processing or equipment difficulties that cannot be left until the following day. The on-call rota is currently operating as 1 week in 6. As part of the role, the employee will be required to wear and use specialist PPE, including but not limited to breathing apparatus, to ensure safety in hazardous environments. Training on the proper use and maintenance of this equipment will be provided and you will need to be clean shaven when wearing required apparatus. There will also be a requirement to work at height and carry out confined space work. The Mechanical Technician may be called upon to be part of the Salt End Emergency Response Team. Key responsibilities include Ensuring all inspections and maintenance procedures are implemented in order to meet COMAH requirements Condition monitoring of all aspects of the VFL plant, using condition based monitoring techniques such as - Vibration analysis; NDT; Infrared; Thermography; Ultrasound; Oil analysis Maintenance and setting up for optimum performance (e.g. laser alignment) for equipment such as – Pumps; Valves; Conveyors; Elevators; Gearboxes; Fans; -Compressors Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on the VFL plant Ensuring that all safety-critical and business-critical systems are inspected, maintained and calibrated to the relevant legislative and VFL standards Controlling abnormal situations and emergencies Implementing key risk control systems necessary for the control of major hazards Management of mechanical and discipline-related contractors Co-ordination with other disciplines and suppliers Maintenance of system drawings and documents after any modifications or improvements All work carried out on the site will be planned and recorded on the computerised maintenance management system About You What you’ll need Essentially, you will have experience on a large scale industrial/manufacturing site and will be Apprentice trained Level 3 or equivalent / ONC in Maintenance & Engineering. You will have IOSH ‘Working Safely’ / NEBOSH ‘Health & Safety at Work’ and CompEX EX11 (or willing to undertake). You will have excellent knowledge of the core areas of mechanical engineering and familiarity with a multitude of pump and fan designs, conveying systems, milling equipment and large capacity silos and tanks, You should also possess a proactive, challenging and questioning style and have broad knowledge across a variety of engineering disciplines along with strong communications and interpersonal skills We are looking for someone who is self-driven, results orientated with a positive outlook and a clear focus on safety, high quality, and commercial success for Vivergo. A natural forward planner who critically assesses their own performance and maintains high personal and professional standards, you'll have a high attention to detail and be able to focus on the task at hand. Experience issuing & receiving permits to work; risk assessment techniques; fork truck licence; IPAF licence; Abrasive wheels, harness trained and confined space awareness training would also be an advantage.
