An exciting opportunity within North Ceredigion Community Mental Health Centre for individuals who have a life experience of mental health illness to join our team as Peer Mentors.
Experience of working in a care setting is not essential for this role as life experience and knowledge is of most importance. We are looking for individuals who can bring their invaluable insight into mental health which would assist in the continued development of the services.
Main duties of the job
Evidence of achieving personal goals and a level of stability is also important as is an interest in a career working to support vulnerable adults with multiple and complex needs.
You'll have good communication, flexibility and basic computer skills along with a desire to develop and learn new skills. You will also develop good working relationships with other voluntary and statutory services within the area, supporting service users as appropriate in accessing these services.
This post is Monday to Friday.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Numeracy and literacy to at least GCSE level or equivalent
* Clinical level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
* Evidence of a broad base of general education and or life experience
* Experience in related environment - Mental Health
* Understanding of the political and social context within which voluntary organisations provide social care services for people with serious mental illness
* Sound understanding of the social care needs of people with serious mental illness
* Understanding of the specific social care and political issues affecting people from the black and ethnic minority communities
* Evidence of commitment to personal and development relevant to area
* NVQ in information, advice and guidance
Experience
* Clinical experience related to supporting individuals with mental health needs
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Experience of working autonomously within a community setting
* Experience of supporting individuals into education, training and employment
* Personal experience of mental health issues, or family member, or close friend
* Additional clinical or health care experience
