ABOUT THE ROLE
1. Plan appropriate, effective and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity
2. Plan teaching sessions which accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources, including digital learning (lesson planning)
3. Ensure all learning materials are available on the VLE for students to access and engage with.
4. Apply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students
5. Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress
6. Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety procedures.
7. Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment
8. Use a variety of methods to check learning in lessons (formative assessment)
9. Ensure that interactive assessment activities are available to students through the VLE
10. Provide regular and timely feedback to students to enable them to improve and achieve their qualifications
11. Prepare students for summative assessment whether for an exam, course work or assignments etc.
12. Engage in moderation of assessment materials and student work
13. Maintain up to date and accurate records of student attendance and progress
14. Respond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and application to their studies by individual conversations with students, referrals to progress coaches or where appropriate, senior management.
15. Support students with individual target setting and revise these throughout the year during progress checks
16. Support student with action planning to improve academic performance and achieve aspirational targets
17. Be available to offer support to students as required (eg workshops, booster and revision classes)
18. Support students to progress to the University by being proactive in liaising with University Schools and link tutors
19. Contribute to student progress reports in a clear and constructive manner
20. Strive for and attain high levels of student achievement
21. Refer students for learning support where appropriate
22. Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students in your care. Refer to support services where appropriate.
23. Contribute to effective communication with stakeholders (parents, sponsors, University etc.)
24. Be aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material (including VLE content) programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviews
25. Demonstrate and update subject specialist knowledge to ensure the currency of specialist teaching
26. Convey enthusiasm for personal specialist area to staff and students
27. Engage in professional development to improve teaching and learning practice, and update subject specialist knowledge
28. Undertake reflection and self-evaluation of personal teaching practice and continuing professional development
29. Comply with expectations of professional conduct
30. Use student feedback to improve personal performance
31. Work as part of the Business Team to produce and develop an exciting curriculum for students
32. Be prepared to operate on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the Business Team and the Centre as a whole
33. Be available to cover lessons for absent colleagues as required
34. Prepare for and participate in appropriate Centre events (eg induction activity, enrichment, University school events, award ceremonies etc.)
35. Promote a cohesive work ethic within the Business Team and the Centre as a whole
36. Share best practices and contribute to the Business Teams’ bank of effective resources/ideas/activities for Teaching and Learning
37. Participate in the development of the VLE and contribute subject knowledge for the development of materials for Law modules.
38. Participate in the development and application of digital learning
39. Attend team and centre meetings in accordance with the Centre’s meeting schedule.
40. Other related activities as may be reasonably requested by the Centre Director, Deputy Director for Curriculum and Progression, Head of Quality and Innovation or Head of Department.
ABOUT YOU
41. A teaching qualification such as Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE (working towards, or willingness to achieve)
42. Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area (Business and Finance)
43. Desirable Postgraduate qualification in a related field.
44. Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 3 and 4
45. Thorough subject knowledge of Business Finance including related fields in Business Studies and Marketing
46. Experience in teaching International Students
47. Experience in supporting students in a pastoral role
48. Experience in delivering and developing learning and teaching through digital learning platforms
