PRIMARY FUNCTION:
As the Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will lead the analysis and optimization of processes across all departments to enhance efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce costs. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to engage and inspire teams. By leading through example, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence aligned with Lean philosophy.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Lead continuous improvement initiatives: Apply Lean tools and methodologies to optimise business processes and reduce complexity.
2. Promote a culture of continuous improvement: Mentor and train stakeholders to embed ongoing change across the organisation.
3. Provide Lean training: Educate teams on tools like Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Built-in Quality to drive meaningful improvements.
4. Manage data and metrics: Develop systems to monitor progress, analyse trends, and track continuous improvement performance.
5. Oversee strategic projects: Identify, propose, and manage high-value projects aligned with business goals.
6. Maintain documentation: Ensure all process documentation, such as SOPs and OPLs, is up to date and accessible.
7. Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with teams across departments to achieve organisational goals and contribute to strategic plans.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent analytical skills, critical and creative thinking for technical problem-solving.
2. Detail-Oriented: Keen eye for detail to avoid costly errors and ensure precision.
3. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels, collaborate with teams, present findings, and implement changes.
4. LEAN/Six Sigma Expertise: Strong understanding and practical experience in Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher), and process optimization tools like Kaizen.
5. Continuous Improvement Passion: Genuine enthusiasm for driving efficiency and improvements.
6. Practical Problem Solving: Experience leading practical problem-solving exercises with multi-functional teams.
7. Project Management: Skilled in managing projects from "cradle to grave" and handling multiple improvement projects simultaneously.
8. Manufacturing, Logistics, and Engineering Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of related processes.
9. Data Analysis: Proficiency in collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
10. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving business needs.
