We are seeking a Production Process Engineer to join our team. This role is essential in improving production efficiency, optimizing plant operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimization:
Collaborate with the Operations Manager, production supervisors, and operators to identify and implement improved working methods.
Analyze and improve the efficiency of the galvanizing process by identifying bottlenecks, increasing throughput, reducing waste, and improving cost effectiveness.
Monitor the production process, ensuring operations remain within parameters, and make recommendations for improvements.
Continuously monitor and optimize chemical usage in the process tanks to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, focusing on process efficiency, reducing downtime, and improving product quality.
Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs and work instructions for both manual and automated processes.
Manage small-scale capital improvement projects, working with the maintenance supervisor to upgrade equipment and implement new technologies.
Quality Control:
Ensure that galvanizing processes meet the highest quality standards by conducting regular inspections and audits.
Perform root cause analysis on quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure all production processes adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Support risk assessments and hazard analyses, and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations concerning emissions, waste, and chemical usage.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with operations, HSE, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure smooth production and address technical issues.
Provide training and support to production staff on new processes and equipment, ensuring best practices are followed.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Develop and monitor KPIs such as production throughput, crane utilization, downtime, and defect rates.
Provide regular reports to senior management and support daily production meetings.
Identify and propose cost reduction strategies across the production process, focusing on energy consumption and raw material usage.
Management Responsibilities:
Foster a positive and high-performing team culture.
Provide insights and ideas to help achieve business targets and operational performance goals.
Inspire and develop the operations team to maintain a high standard of work.
Person Specification:
Proven experience in analyzing, improving, and documenting manufacturing processes, with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with industrial machinery, chemical processes, automation systems, and galvanizing production technologies.
Strong understanding of HSE regulations within manufacturing.
A self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive improvements.
Excellent communication skills to engage with internal teams and external suppliers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Benefits:
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 (D.O.E) + bonus of up to 9% of annual salary.
