What skills and experience we're looking for
We seek to appoint a Student Support Officer to join an established team who support students with their behaviour and attendance and, in particular, to support students to reflect on their behaviour and reintegrating them back into lessons.
The ideal candidate will have a commanding presence, be firm, fair and consistent, and be able to relate to young people in a calm, supportive and positive manner.
The successful candidate will find the school is a purposeful and supportive learning environment, with a strong team of staff who are highly committed to raising student achievement.
The successful candidate should:
Be motivated to work with children and young people to ensure they are successful
Have a commitment to, and belief in, the equal value of all students
Have an ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
Have emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes to use of authority and maintaining discipline
Have an ability to raise self-esteem and expectations of children and young people
Have the knowledge and experience of relevant highly effective behaviour management strategies for children and young people and the ability to use them effectively
Be highly skilled in a range of assertive discipline strategies
Be efficient and organised: independent and effective in time management
Have strong ICT skills, especially Word and Excel

This is a permanent post. The hours of duty are 8.00am–4.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.00am–3.30pm on Friday, including an unpaid break of 30 minutes each day, term time plus training days.
