Production Planner The Production Planner is responsible for organising production according to demand and quality standards. They ensure that production processes are optimised for efficiency and cost-effectiveness while meeting customer requirements. This role involves planning and scheduling production activities, managing inventory levels, and coordinating with various departments to achieve production goals. Production Planner Key Responsibilities: Production Planning and Scheduling Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demands. Determine equipment and raw material needs based on production forecasts. Monitor production progress and make adjustments as needed to meet deadlines. Inventory Management Manageinventory levels to ensure materials are available for production without overstocking. Coordinate with the procurement team to order materials as needed. Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accuracy. Coordination and Communication Collaborate with the production, procurement, and sales teams to align production schedules with customer orders. Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. Provide updates on production status to relevant stakeholders. Efficiency and Cost Control Identify opportunities to improve production processes and reduce costs. Implement best practices in production planning and scheduling. Analyse production data to identify and resolve bottlenecks. Quality Assurance Ensure that production processes comply with quality standards. Work with the quality control team to address any production issues. Reporting and Documentation Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory levels, and production performance. Prepare reports on production status and performance metrics. Production Planner Person Specification: Experience Proven experience as a Production Planner or similar role in a manufacturing environment. Experience with production planning software and ERP systems. Skills and Competencies o Strong organisational and time management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Working Conditions Primarily office-based with some time spent in the production area. May require occasional travel to other company sites. Additional Requirements: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus. Essential Qualifications Experience: Planning within a manufacturing environment is essential. Experience in planning tools & Excel is essential. Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of Aerospace operators desirable. Ideally from a manufacturing/engineering bias background.
