Systems Safety Engineer Templecombe - Hybrid We have a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Safety Engineer to join Thales Land and Air Systems (LAS) who provide a range of defence and air protection products for the UK and international customers. We're looking for a System Safety/Safety Engineer professional with experience of Safety Management Systems to join our team at Templecombe. This role has significant progression opportunities within the Integrated Airspace product line and will work closely with the current Safety team to deploy and manage Safety Management Systems within ongoing and new engineering development programmes. We're ideally looking for an individual who has had exposure to leading engineering Safety topics or has detailed experience in Safety Engineering and wants to progress towards technical leading key safety areas within product development. Day to day you will: Carry out hazard analysis, risk evaluation and specify Safety requirements in the areas of performance, engineering features, interfacing and testing requirements. Collaborate all multi-disciplinary engineering teams across the project to ensure SMS alignment. Maintain and ensure compliance to S&EM processes and procedures. Maintain a good understanding of all relevant S&E standards and regulations and ensure they are followed in IAS. Plan and estimate the cost of project S&EM engineering activities. Prepare hazard analysis reports, safety cases as well as development of valid safety arguments. About you We're looking for experience in a safety engineering role within a regulated engineering environment, we are open to individuals with experience from industries outside of Aerospace/Defence. Working knowledge of product safety standards and legislation Ability to define and implement sound engineering design principles and methodology Experience with Fault Tree, FMECA and/or HAZOPs Ability to carry out detailed safety analysis, risk evaluation and safety case construction using best practice approach Experience in a safety engineering role within an engineering environment Experience of leading safety engineering topics will be highly advantageous Good communication skills with excellent attention to detail A methodical and logical approach to problem solving The ability to present a reasoned argument for the inclusion of safety risk mitigation measures in a design Security Clearance statement This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance.
