Otahuna Lodge is currently inviting applications from talented and personable chefs for a full-time role as Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie from the end of October 2024 through Easter / Late April 2025.

The general function of this role is to support the Executive Chef in delivering cuisine of exceptional quality, and to lead meal services in the absence of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
Additional duties and responsibilities:
* Be able to eloquently present each course to guests at their table in a chef-led fine-dining dinner service--highlighting the ingredients and preparation in a personable and professional manner.
* Responsibility for food preparation and production and service to the highest standard with focus toward flavour, texture and colour.
* Help maintain the cleanliness of the kitchens and equipment and ensure the area is clean and safe; all required maintenance is reported to the Executive Chef.
* Generate return and referral business by exceeding guests’ expectations.
* Be proactive in all aspects of service, hosting, and customer interaction.
* Commit to personal and professional growth and development with the support of the owner/managers by upskilling.
* Attend and contribute to all meetings and training programs as required.
* Maintain a sense of self-pride reflective in personal presentation and performance.
As a Senior Chef de Partie, you must have:
* Excellent presentation and communication skills with impeccable attention to detail; this position entails a high degree of guest interaction.
* A passion for, and creativity to create exceptional and beautiful cuisine.
* Knowledge of New Zealand wine is helpful but not required.
* Experience in Food and Beverage in a fine dining environment.
* Experience in pastry/desserts is required.
* A focus on providing our guests with the highest possible standard of service in all aspects of their experience.
* Coffee/barista experience is helpful; training provided.
* A desire to learn and teach—you will learn how to preserve and cure estate reared meats, bake artisanal breads and pastries, and serve some of the finest, freshest cuisine based around the produce from our incredible vegetable gardens and orchards.
* Flexibility to perform a wide variety of tasks.
* The desire to work in a highly focused, committed small team environment.
* Availability to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays.
* Self-motivation, initiative, and professional integrity.
