BBC Studioworks is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC providing studios and post production services to all the major TV broadcasters and production companies including the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, and Channel 5. Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to maximise revenue and gross margin for our postproduction business. This role ensures that we are at the forefront of all producers' minds, are liked and trusted, and ultimately our facilities are achieving high levels of utilisation and high yields. The Post Production Business Development Manager will have responsibility for delivering a substantial proportion of annual revenue across postproduction. They will maintain an excellent rapport with clients, capture new projects, and retain existing business.
Key Accountabilities
1. Support maximum utilisation and yield for the BBC Studioworks Postproduction business (and associated services).
2. Proactively engage with current and new clients to grow our customer base across post production.
3. Lead commercial negotiations from quoting through to completion of contract agreements.
4. Manage front line sales inquiries, owning customer relationships and ensuring all opportunities are acted upon in a timely manner.
5. Work closely with commercial and operations teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
6. Help develop new pricing strategies to maximise yield and drive revenue growth.
7. Support the full use of the company's reporting and billing system (Mediapulse).
8. Work with the wider Studioworks team to improve our offering and enhance client experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
1. Knowledge of the TV sector within studio production and the broadcast facilities market.
2. Proven experience in a similar role in a production facility or media company.
3. Thorough understanding of the production process and workflows.
4. Exceptionally customer-focused with a proven track record in client management.
5. Strong negotiation skills and ability to build relationships with clients.
6. Proactive approach to identifying and winning work.
7. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills with experience in managing budgets.
8. Good understanding of Excel and ability to navigate in-house systems.
9. Proven ability to evaluate different commercial opportunities.
10. Team player with ability to build strong relationships based on trust.
11. Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
12. Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others.
13. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining motivation.
14. Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
