Ellern Mede Ridgeway provides an inpatient service to young people between the ages of 12-18 who are suffering from an eating disorder and other mental health diagnosis. We work with complex presentations and with those needing a more short-term admission. Our aim is to improve the patients’ physical and psychological health, so that they are able to live at home and function in the community with ongoing input and treatment from community services. Working collaboratively with parents is an essential part of the work and the family therapy team play a key role in ensuring that parents are treated as resources in the recovery of their child’s health from the eating disorder. Main duties of the job We are currently recruiting for a qualified UKCP registered family and systemic psychotherapist. The post would be suitable for someone with CAMHS experience who would feel confident about working independently but also in collaboration with multi-displinary colleagues within an impatient setting. The position would suit a clinician who can be flexible, can manage the sensitive interface between families and the wider professional team and would welcome an opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the treatment and recovery of young people with an eating disorder. Key Responsibilities. To provide both specialist and generic and assessments contributing to the care and treatment plans of young people with eating disorders. To formulate and devise treatment plans and to provide interventions using a range of generic and discipline specific models appropriate to the young people’s presentations. This includes both short- and long-term treatment approaches. To provide psychoeducation on eating disorders to parents. To research and provide resources to parents about eating disorders. To facilitate groups with parents. To manage own caseload and to seek advice and supervision as appropriate. To contribute to case discussions and provide systemic perspectives in the weekly multidisciplinary team meetings. To establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with nursing and other multi-disciplinary colleagues within the service and also with professionals in referring agencies. To liaise with all relevant internal staff members regarding the care and treatment of patients. To provide reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation, treatment plans and needs of patients. To liaise with community teams as appropriate and where indicated work jointly with community family therapists. To attend case reviews and other professional meetings and provide relevant reports. To maintain clinical notes of all work undertaken and enter required data on the electronic system. To work within plan and prioritize own workload within the priorities of the service and the needs of families. To contribute to the training of nursing and health care staff. To keep up to date with research in relation to the treatment of young people with eating disorders and contribute to peer team meetings. To be accountable for own professional action and work within professional guidelines.
