Sunflower House Tier 4 Inpatient Unit is seeking a compassionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team of multi-disciplinary practitioners. Working as part of the community division at Alder Hey.

Refer a friend - Alder Hey: Successful candidates who are introduced to the trust by existing staff members will receive £1000 after completion of six months in post. This will be paid in two parts, £250 in first month pay on commencement in post, and £750 on completion of six months.
Accommodation: Alder Hey will support the cost of accommodation for up to 3 months from the date of employment (up to £500 per month). The cost is to be paid by the staff member and reclaimed as expenses.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with an interest and experience in working with young people with a range of complex needs.
The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery and coordination of a high quality Occupational Therapy service for Children and Young People who are inpatients at Sunflower House. The post holder will formulate individual treatment plans, set clear goals and outcomes based on clinical reasoning skills, and provide a range of specialist individualised therapeutic interventions to support Children and Young People open to the service.
The post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner within Sunflower House, managing their own caseload and being responsible for the delivery of therapeutic interventions within the defined areas of the service, and will provide consultation and supervision to team members.

About us
About the team: Sunflower House (SFH) provides support and treatment to children and young people with complex needs from across the country, as well as supporting their parents and carers as part of the recovery and care plan. Liaising with relevant professionals from SFH as well as a range of professionals including school, social care, and other health professionals internally and externally to the Trust.
This is a multidisciplinary team including Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, nursing, assistant practitioners, and healthcare assistants. The unit is based on-site at Alder Hey.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy, recognised by HCPC
* Member of HCPC
* Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy
* Post Graduate level training in Sensory Integration or Sequential Oral Sensory Approach
* Occupational therapy specific post-graduate courses in paediatrics
* Experience working with Children and Young People with an Eating Disorder and/or ARFIDs
* Evidence of CPD, post-registration educational and training.
* Wide knowledge of conditions and presentations and their impact on occupational performance.
* Knowledge of specialist paediatric approaches and high standard of performance in a range of general paediatric skills.
* Evidence of experience working within a community setting.
* Experience of supervising junior staff and students.
* Experience of audit.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
* Evidence of knowledge of a wide range of approaches used within occupational therapy.
* Evidence of being capable of occupational therapy assessment techniques.
* Proven physical ability to carry out any therapeutic handling required.
* Evidence of knowledge of current trends within occupational therapy.
* Evidence of good communication skills, written and verbal, ensuring effective communication with service users and other professionals.
* Knowledge of paediatric standardised assessment tools.
* Demonstrate ability to work flexibly when necessary.
* Computer skills at an appropriate level for report writing and data collections.
* Proven knowledge of Safeguarding procedures.
* Evidence of interest within the field of paediatrics.
* Presentation skills for a range of audiences.
* Proven knowledge and experience of postural management programmes and seating needs for children with complex needs.

* Proven ability to prioritise and organise caseload, underpinned by sound time management skills.

* Evidence of experience of supervising and teaching junior occupational therapists.
* Proven experience of the delegation of tasks to other staff, with a firm understanding of the process of delegation.
