At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
The successful applicant will be an NHS employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable service users. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, service users and those attending our sites. Unless exempt, we encourage and support staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.
Job overview
This is a unique secondment opportunity to develop your skills as an operational manager. If you are keen to progress but feel nervous about taking the next step we can offer you 15 hours per week developmental time as part of a 6 month secondment period.
You will work alongside an established leadership team managing our Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. You will demonstrate your leadership skills in the development of services and support the services through accreditation processes.
We will offer you a bespoke developmental plan that enables you to enhance your operational leadership skills and find ways to develop professionally and personally.
You must be working with the Community Mental Health Directorate and have clear developmental ambitions.
Main duties of the job
This is a newly created developmental post within the Mental Health Directorate Operational Management Structure and has been created to enhance and strengthen the managerial team and add management capacity into the service.
You will be joining a dynamic and supportive senior leadership team to help meet the challenges across the Community Mental Health Directorate. We are looking for an energetic and passionate Manager to encourage and contribute to creating an innovative and trailblazing mental health service, informed by a cutting-edge evidence base. There will be a key focus on quality improvement to enhance services.
The post holder will be responsible for providing high quality operational leadership to a defined group of services within the directorate and will work alongside the directorate's Service Managers and the Director of Mental Health. They will make strong links with the wider directorate and multi-agency provision and foster seamless care pathways to ensure an informed approach across the organisation.
You will be offered a bespoke developmental plan that will enable you to experience a senior leadership role. You will develop your own operational skills and have mentorship from a very experienced leadership team.
This is a key role within the directorate and the post-holder will be expected to deliver innovative services that are responsive and provide the best value for the population of Cornwall, their family and their carers.
Working for our organisation
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
