The team
As a member of the Central Insights Team, you will shape our understanding of key market trends and the competitor landscape, as well as develop a deep understanding of our viewers and their behaviours. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and address key strategic decisions and design multi-methodology techniques using research, analytics, and data science. As the Lead Insight Analyst, you will leverage 1st and 3rd party data assets, along with business understanding, to generate insights needed by the leadership team to make decisions that drive desired outcomes for the ITV Media & Entertainment business.
The role
As the Lead Insight Analyst for Central Insights, you will work closely with the Head of Central Insights and Senior Insights Managers to curate data insight and innovation for the Central Insights team. Central Insights’ remit is to provide the M&E board with a holistic view of KPI performance in relation to the objectives and key results framework and measures of success within the business domains. Central Insights also plays a key part in the development of self-serve tooling, providing structured and reliable access to data across the organisation.
You will work cross-functionally with Lead Analysts in other insight teams to understand key metric drivers across the business pillars of content, marketing, product, and distribution. The Central Insights team is responsible for forecasting all M&E KPIs, including streaming and broadcast performance, leveraging capabilities across insight, analytics, and data science.
Key deliverables will include defining an analytics roadmap for Central Insights; improving existing insights; taking advantage of new tools and data sets; and delivering initial proof of concepts for new initiatives.
Example initiatives could include:
* Providing enhanced insights into viewer behaviours and preferences over time, across ITV and competitors
* Using analytics and data science to enhance forecasting capabilities for accurate performance metrics
* Designing data solutions and self-serve tools that surface key insights for Insights colleagues and business partners
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
* Vast experience in the data industry, preferably with media and digital exposure
* Interest in and knowledge of the UK television industry, including distribution channels and platforms
* Proven track record of using data to drive direct to consumer relationships and business value
* Strong communication skills with the ability to tell commercially relevant stories with data
* Keen problem solver with critical thinking skills
* Able to challenge assumptions and biases in analytical output and methodologies
* Experience with Google Analytics, GCP, BigQuery, Tableau, Databricks, and AWS
* Able to write production-grade code in SQL or Python
* Extensive experience analysing large datasets on Data Mesh, Datalakes, or EDWs
* Experience establishing enterprise-scale self-serve tools
* Experience of forecasting techniques for business analytics
* Working knowledge of ML and its application to drive business value
* Team player in a collaborative and cross-functional environment
* Experience managing analyst workloads and project delivery
