Bike Right was founded in 2003 in Manchester with the simple aim of enabling cycling for all.
We are a small team of dedicated and passionate cyclists who provide services to include Adult Cycle Training, Safe Urban Driving, Bicycle Maintenance, and Led Rides. Our area of operation spans from Manchester to Merseyside, Cheshire, Warrington, Staffordshire, and the West Midlands. Together with Cycle Confident, we now train 100,000 people a year!
The role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to join the growing team on a part-time basis. This is an office-based standalone role reporting into the Head of Bike Right and working closely with the Senior Management team (SMT). Predominantly, this role will focus on operational HR including workforce recruitment, training, policy changes, and employee relations; however, you will have the opportunity to work with the SMT to drive engagement and implement strategies that enhance reward and recognition.
Key Responsibilities:
* To work in partnership with Senior Management to effectively support, coach and manage employment relation issues using business procedures and best practice;
* Providing support and guidance to all managers and employees, promoting our unique culture across the various locations and in exciting areas of growth;
* Supporting and advising managers on recruitment processes; including creating job descriptions, advertising vacancies, supporting shortlisting, organizing interviews, obtaining references, and sending job offers;
* Onboarding new starters;
* Supporting the Finance Manager with the administration of the payroll;
* Responsible for employee records; keeping accurate digital files and ensuring GDPR compliance;
* Ensuring all HR-related policies and guidance are up to date, relevant, and legally compliant;
* Ensuring that leaver processes are followed, including conducting an exit interview;
* Assist Senior management team in Cycle Confident (sister company) as needed;
* Follow all Company policies, procedures, and established guidelines;
* Undertake available training and development as deemed necessary;
* HR administration and other ad-hoc duties as would reasonably be expected.
Essential Attributes required:
* Proven experience in working in a HR generalist position;
* CIPD Qualified (Level 5 or above/or equivalent qualification or experience);
* Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of UK employment law, with the ability to apply it on a commercial basis;
* Experience of working in a standalone position (desirable);
* Experience of the TUPE processes (desirable);
* Excellent understanding of discretion with the ability to maintain confidentiality;
* Ability to influence and work collaboratively in a small management team;
* A self-starter, goal setter, and completer finisher;
* Energy and a genuine passion for creating an exceptional and effective people experience;
* Excellent communicator with an approachable and diplomatic demeanor;
* An agile and pragmatic approach to work;
* Excellent organizing and problem-solving skills with the ability to stay calm in difficult situations;
* Ability to work accurately with good attention to detail;
* Ability to demonstrate resilience and manage challenging situations effectively;
* An interest in cycling (desirable).
What we are offering:
Salary: £37,000 – £40,000 (FTE), depending on skills and experience
Hours: 16 – 20 hours per week over 4 or 5 days (flexible)
Location: Office based, Bootle, Merseyside
Holiday: 25 days per year (FTE)
