In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.
The purpose of The Industry 4.0 Lead is to be responsible for identifying and documenting the business needs of Safran Seats GB and helping to determine feasibility of digital opportunities that meet business needs and resolve business problems. This position will give you the opportunity to grow to become an active thought partner and solution visionary who shapes the technology demand and direction and supports the digital + business transformation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Precisely capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements, including health, safety, security, usability, data, and supportability considerations.
2. Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options.
3. In your interactions with business stakeholders, describe technology in terms easily understood and set realistic customer expectations for the project outcome. Adjust customer expectations in accordance with changes in scope.
4. Generate innovative approaches to existing problems or new opportunities.
5. Create and present compelling business cases to justify solution value and establish approval, funding, and prioritization.
6. Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
7. Create clear + concise documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle.
8. Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to final solution.
9. Interact with the delivery teams (local + global) to understand solution limitations ensuring the business requirements and use cases are addressed.
10. Participate in opportunity framing workshops or work process simplification workshops.
11. Manage entries for new Digital Factory opportunities into our central value tracking and prioritization tool to drive opportunities into the Asset Reference Plans/Project Review Teams AND/OR Digital + Business Transformation execution plans.
Job Requirements
1. B.Eng. in Mechanical, Manufacturing or similar engineering OR HND gained through an apprenticeship in a relevant engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment.
3. Experience of working within company and regulatory processes, standards and specifications.
4. Good knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly principles.
5. Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
6. APQP & PPAP.
7. PFMEA.
8. Interrogation of 3D CAD modelling software.
9. CATIA 3D modelling software.
10. Ability to interpret 2D drawings.
11. Good knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma principles.
12. Understanding of aircraft certification process.
13. Good organisational skills.
14. Attention to detail.
15. Presentation skills.
16. Project management.
17. Able to work well within a team.
