Job Description:
As a Controls Engineer (Automated Test Equipment Engineer), you will be part of a close-knit team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software and hardware applications to support manufacturing operations. You will work on automated assembly, functional testing, and production monitoring solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with project, manufacturing, and test equipment teams to capture requirements
* Develop software and hardware specifications
* Design, implement, and maintain robust control system solutions
* Develop and program PLCs and HMIs for industrial automation
* Troubleshoot technical issues related to control systems
* Manage production test solutions throughout their lifecycle
* Provide training and guidance to apprentices and operators
* Support company-wide software and hardware initiatives
* Occasionally travel off-site for equipment inspections, training, and remote support
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
* Degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Physics (or equivalent experience)
* Experience in designing and implementing control systems (PLC & HMI programming)
* Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron)
* Familiarity with industrial automation systems and protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Self-motivated with strong organisational and time management abilities
Desirable:
* Project management experience
* Experience as a Technical Lead
* Exposure to Lean Manufacturing techniques
* Familiarity with LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA
* Experience with robotics, motion control systems, and pneumatic integration
* Knowledge of SQL databases and additional programming languages
