Job Description:
Principal Building Safety Manager
Location: West Yorkshire
Contract: 3-months ongoing
Pay: Inside IR35 – Negotiable DOE
Our client, a local authority in West Yorkshire, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Building Safety Manager to lead and coordinate the development and delivery of a robust regime for building safety management. This role will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and implementing best practices in social housing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of a robust regime for building safety management and related compliance.
2. Coordinate the collection, management, and use of building safety data to enable timely actions and compliance.
3. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures in line with Service EQFM approach.
4. Oversee risk management across key compliance areas, ensuring responses are proportionate and effective.
5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting building safety and ensure staff are adequately trained.
6. Advise relevant Council groups and Boards of any breaches of required standards and plans to address them.
7. Champion the delivery of the Asset Management Strategy to deliver the Housing Standard.
8. Provide line management for managers assigned in the structure.
Requirements
1. Relevant management-level knowledge and experience of Compliance and Building Safety Regulatory Frameworks.
2. Degree-level qualification in Construction and Built Environment or Project Management, or equivalent experience.
3. Professional qualifications such as MCIOB, MRICS, PMP (desirable).
4. Proven ability to coordinate the management of specialist building safety information and support in social housing.
5. Track record of data management, performance reporting, trend analysis, and risk profiling.
6. Experience in developing organizational responses to regulatory requirements.
7. Excellent leadership, project management, and delivery skills.
