Experience in managing multiple projects, especially commercial projects worth £10m and above. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to quickly and efficiently manage complex information. As a Commercial Manager MEP: Lead and ensure that the team follows our commercial procedures and uses the appropriate templates in all aspects of their work. Oversee and support the team of Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Quantity Surveyors, and Junior Quantity Surveyors, helping to minimise risks and avoid contractual exposure on all projects. Assist with pre-qualification submissions and tender submissions, supporting the team in obtaining quotes and developing estimates. Take commercial ownership of new projects and manage the handover process from the Pre-Construction department. Run and attend project cost clinics at various stages of the project, working with the team to ensure that cost targets are met or exceeded. Keep the Commercial Director and Finance Director informed of any issues that may affect project profit margins. Ensure subcontract and purchase orders are raised correctly and in line with contract terms to reduce commercial risk. Commit orders and approve payment certificates where needed, ensuring compliance with authority limits. Monitor and manage project risks to keep them at an acceptable level, safeguarding the business. Ensure all contract documentation is completed on time and in line with company policy, particularly regarding insurance, bonds, and warranties. Oversee the creation of monthly valuation schedules to ensure proper cash flow management and make sure valuations are submitted and certified on time. Approve invoices and ensure they are paid within the agreed contractual timeframes to maintain good relationships with our supply chain. Review and approve monthly cost reports, ensuring they’re accurate and submitted in line with the commercial review schedule. Ensure final accounts are completed and submitted in a timely manner. Keep track of retention monies and ensure they are applied for promptly. Play an active role in the performance development of the team, setting objectives and monitoring progress. Work with the Commercial Directors to manage resource needs, including recruitment and addressing poor performance. Maintain a non-adversarial, professional approach when dealing with internal and external customers. Ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to employment and business operations.
