Position:
An opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician (Modern Apprenticeship - Annex 21 pay conditions will apply) based at University Hospital Crosshouse/University Hospital Ayr/Woodland View (within Ayrshire Central Hospital) and GP practices within South Ayrshire – depending on rotation. This is a fixed term opportunity for 2 years.
What you will do:
This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn in a Technical Apprenticeship leading to a career as a Pharmacy Technician. You will study, train, and work as a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician across NHS Ayrshire & Arran with rotational placements in general practice and hospital pharmacy.
Duties include: Dispensing medications, dealing with pharmaceutical queries, medicines reconciliation, and final accuracy checking, undertaking medication reviews, ordering pharmaceutical stock, and preparing aseptic products.
You will be required to work through a structured training programme towards achieving the SVQ Pharmacy Services qualification at SCQF Level 8 and PDA Pharmacy Services SCQF Level 7 to meet the General Pharmaceutical Council’s initial education and training requirements.
In accordance with AFC terms and conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day. A driving license is essential for the above posts. Hours: 37 hours per week.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You will be enthusiastic with strong interpersonal and organisational abilities, good oral/written communication skills, and a strong teamwork ethic. Applicants must have achieved 4 National 5 qualifications (or SCQF equivalent) which must include English, Maths, Biology, and Chemistry as a minimum.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
A car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
