Avionics Engineer
The company are developing unmanned electric Wing in Ground (WIG) vehicle for maritime operations. Their patented design merge VTOL and ground effect technologies together to maximise speed, range and operational flexibility while reducing offshore cargo operational emissions by 99%.
They are 40% more efficient and 6X cheaper than a helicopter. The ability to travel like a boat or a helicopter enables a diverse range of missions e.g. logistics, medical delivery, search & rescue, environmental monitoring.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will join our growing, experienced team as Principal Avionics Engineer, focusing their time primarily on engineering and testing of avionic systems and autopilot.
The progress this year evolves around building the next generation Unmanned Aerial System which will be equipped with the latest technologies including an AI based detect and avoid system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, testing and verification of avionics for Unmanned Systems,
Adjusting the autopilot settings and making the necessary changes by additional coding.
Working together with the avionics equipment suppliers and the design team of the company according to the operation/vehicle requirements.
Producing the necessary documentation for certification and operation.
Defining necessary hardware parts (such as stands, mounts, joints etc.) for the avionics equipment and tracking the production of these parts.
Electrical and signal interface definitions of avionics system, including the autopilot, communications, electrical interfaces.
Reporting the potential problems of the design and recommending solutions.
Defining design, production, maintenance and operational best practices for validation, traceability and quality of the work performed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B.S. Aeronautical, Aviation, Electronics, Mechanical, Automotive or related Engineering departments of universities;
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Engineering role with active involvement within design and verification processes.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including quality, production and supply chain.
Adheres to due diligence and compliance in all aspects of work.
Experience with good documentation practices
Managed a team or supervised teammates.
General understanding of 2D/3D CAD modelling, CFD, UAV Construction, UAS Operations and the Law, UAS Technology and Applications, 3D printing, VLOS UAV Piloting,
Hands on knowledge for flight system and sub system installation & integration, Ardupilot & PX4 FC set up, GCS operations, Autonomous flight, mission planner and QGC, UAS Sensor Technology and integration Flight Trials, Post flight analysis.
Preferably has a pilot’s licence or a remote pilot’s licence
Preferably has production/design/flight certification experience in aerospace
Industry.
The role will initially be a 6 month contract with the option to turn permanent after.
Salary: £25,000-£45,000
