As a Packaging Development Technologist, you will play a crucial role in leading the technical input for packaging development projects across various Cosmetics and Toiletries brands. You’ll be responsible for managing the entire process, from customer briefs through to product commercialization, while ensuring compliance with global regulations. You will work cross-functionally with Product Development, Purchasing, and Production teams to deliver high-quality packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the packaging development for new product innovations and renovations, ensuring compliance and on-time delivery.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technical, R&D, and Production, to support packaging development.
* Conduct risk assessments on packaging components and processes, developing strategies to mitigate any identified risks.
* Stay updated on evolving environmental and packaging legislation, adapting processes as necessary.
* Manage packaging testing protocols, including in-house testing, and attend line trials to provide expert support.
* Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to ensure successful project execution, including managing print proofs and artwork reviews.
* Proactively drive cost-saving initiatives and improve process efficiencies across packaging activities.
* Provide monthly reporting on packaging tax compliance to HMRC.
Qualifications:
* ONC/HNC or degree-level qualification in a STEM/Scientific discipline such as Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or Packaging Design.
* A solid technical background in packaging with knowledge of different packaging formats and their respective pros and cons.
* Experience in blow-mould, packaging creation, and artwork reviews is desirable.
* Experience working in cosmetics or healthcare products is preferred.
* Strong project management and teamworking skills.
* Ability to work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Product Development teams.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
* Enthusiastic and adaptable to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
